Train Chaos support
Help for the iPhone game by Jordy de Koning. Train Chaos is coming soon on the App Store, for iPhone in landscape on iOS 17 or later. Android is planned for later and is not available yet.
How do I play?
Each train is announced at its origin a moment before it rolls in, showing the colour, letter and shape of the station it is heading for. Tap a switch to change where it points, and send every train to its matching station. A switch is locked while any part of a train is on it, and a train’s way is decided as its front reaches the switch.
A train that reaches the wrong station is a misdelivery, and three misdeliveries end the run. Where lines merge or cross, two trains meeting is a crash, which ends the run at once; a warning appears at least three seconds before a predicted collision. From Signal Box on, tap a signal to turn it red and hold the next train there. It turns green by itself six seconds after a train stops at it, or when you tap it again. Round the Bend adds a loop, so you can send a train around while the way ahead clears.
How do I unlock maps and earn medals?
Your score is the number of trains delivered. Each map has bronze, silver and gold targets, and reaching bronze unlocks the next map. Your best score and best medal are kept for every map. Runs are endless and get faster the longer you last; Retry on the results screen starts a new run with one tap.
Can I replay the tutorial?
Yes. Open Settings from Home and choose Replay tutorial to repeat the five guided steps on First Switch. When a map brings in something new, such as a merge, a crossing, signals, freight or a loop, a short briefing explains it the first time.
How do I pause, and what if I leave the game?
Tap the pause button to stop the clock. The pause menu offers Resume, Restart, Settings and Quit. If you switch apps, lock your iPhone or take a call, the game pauses by itself. Play continues after a three-second countdown.
A run in progress is not saved, so if the app is closed during a run, that run is lost. Your bests, medals, unlocked maps and settings stay saved.
Can I change the sound, haptics or motion?
Open Settings from Home or from the pause menu. Music, Sound effects and Haptics can each be turned on or off, and every change applies at once. Reduce motion removes shaking and pulsing, and the game also follows the Reduce Motion setting of your iPhone. Game sound stays quiet while your iPhone is in silent mode.
Stations are told apart by colour, letter and shape, never by colour alone. Menus support larger text sizes and VoiceOver labels. Live runs are played by sight; there is no complete non-visual mode.
Does Train Chaos need an internet connection?
No. Train Chaos works completely offline, including in Airplane Mode, and never uses the network. There is no account to create or sign in to, and there are no purchases or ads.
How do I start over, and what if my progress is gone?
Progress is saved on this iPhone, in the game’s own storage, and in your own device backups if you make them. Train Chaos has no account or cloud sync of its own, and the developer cannot retrieve or restore your progress.
There is no reset button in the game. To start over completely, delete the app and reinstall it. This removes your bests, medals, unlocked maps and settings, unless your iPhone restores them from a backup.
If the save file cannot be read, the game tells you that it started fresh and that a copy of the old file was kept. If the file cannot be opened at all, the game leaves it untouched and saves nothing until it can be opened again. If your iPhone runs out of storage, the game says that your progress or settings could not be saved; free up some space and keep playing. Keep the app installed while you look into a save problem, because deleting it removes the save file and its copy.

For questions, bugs or privacy enquiries, email hello@jordydekoning.com. Include your device model, iOS version, and the app version and build shown in About Train Chaos (Home → About & privacy), the map you were playing and what happened. If useful, describe the steps to reproduce the problem or attach a screenshot. Please avoid sensitive personal information.
Support email is handled through your email provider and mine. Sending a message is separate from playing the offline game, and the app never uploads reports by itself. See the privacy policy for what the game saves.
